At this time of year a Christmas carol service can bring some festive cheer to even the most miserable grinches out there! We love singing along to all our favourite Christmas songs, so we have compiled a list for you of all the wonderful carol services happening in Waterford this month!
Sacred Heart Church, The Folly
The Annual Carols by Candlelight service takes place on Monday, 17th December in the Sacred Heart Church, the Folly, beginning at 8.00pm. This is always a very popular event so be sure to arrive early to get a seat!
Christ Church Cathedral , Cathedral Square
Join the choir of Christ Church Cathedral for a traditional Service of Nine Lessons and Carols at their ecumenical civic carol service. Music at the event will be provided by the Choir of Christ Church Cathedral and accompanied by the magnificent Elliot-Jones Organ and the Libra String Quartet. All are welcome!
Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity Barronstrand Street
The Waterford Lions Club annual Christmas Carol Concert takes place on Saturday the 15th of December at the Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity on Barronstrand Street in Waterford City. This is the most popular event for the Lions Club Christmas Hamper Appeal. Doors open at 2:30pm. Free event and all are welcome!
Parish of St. Joseph and Benildus
The Parish of St. Joseph and Benildus are this year running Christmas in Benildus 3 on Wednesday December 19th at 7.30 pm. Performing on the evening will be Vanessa Whelan (soprano), Valerie Leahy (Soprano), Dominic McGorian (Tenor) and very special guests, the Trinitones. Billy O´Brien (piano) and Jane Hackett (violin) will be performing as well as the Parish choir under the direction of Joe O´Beirne. This night does sell out, so please reserve your tickets now. St. Andrew’s Church Dunmore East
This Wednesday December 19th St. Andrews Church Dunmore East will hold its annual carol service at 8pm. The carol service will include the city of Waterford Brass Band, the Dunmore East Christian Fellowship Choir, Killea Church Choir and the Christ Church Primary School. All are welcome with refreshments served afterward. The collection at this service will be shared with the RNLI and the Sea Scouts
St. John’s Church Parnell Street
St. John’s Church will hold a carol service before their Christmas Eve Mass on Monday December 24th. The mass will begin at 9pm with carols from 8.30-9pm.
St. Patrick’s Gateway Centre
Although not technically a carol service, St. Patrick’s Gateway Centre will be holding a Christmas concert in aid of the Waterford Local Radio St.Vincent de Paul Appeal on Monday December 17th. From 8pm To 10.30pm in St Patrick’s Gateway Centre, the Waterford writers Group invites everyone to an evening of song ,stories , music and poetry by local singers, writers and musicians. tickets are 10 euro and are available from St.Vincent De Paul shops and from St.Patricks Gateway Centre
