New Seagull Bakery Shop opens in Dunmore East & the Bakery is expanded in Tramore. The artisan sourdough Seagull Bakery in Tramore is experiencing a business growth story as organic as you can get as today (July 29) husband and wife team Conor and Sarah announce another growth step for Seagull Bakery as they expand their baking area in Tramore and open a new bakery shop in Dunmore East.
The move means that there are now three Seagull Bakery shops across Waterford; a response to the ever-growing demand for the bakery’s sourdough bread and pastries.
Expanding Seagull is not new to Conor and Sarah; having commenced baking at her home kitchen counter in 2002 demand grew and grew for Sarah’s delicious bread. She moved from selling from home to the Saturday morning market at the Tramore Church car-park which was so popular that it became obvious to everyone that Seagull needed a premises. In 2016 to the delight of Waterford, Seagull Bakery opened its doors at Broad Street, Tramore; they expanded the baking area there in 2018 and went on to open a new bakery shop in Waterford City earlier this year. The duo have now opened a new Seagull Shop in the Lower Village of Dunmore East along with a new bakery kitchen in Tramore in order to meet customer demand.
The Seagull team has recognised that the pandemic has seen people looking to eat healthier and to shop more locally and sustainably and Sarah says that it is a real privilege to be part of this consumer movement.
“So much has changed for business owners and indeed for consumers over the last 18 months and at Seagull restrictions on the business have certainly been a challenge but we are delighted to see just how much our customers are enjoying shopping more locally, not only at Seagull but at many other local and independent businesses. We are thrilled to be able to bring Seagull Bakery to further locations and to open a new bakery shop in beautiful Dunmore East.
It has also been a privilege to go to work and enjoy baking every day while also growing a team of passionate bakers and baristas. Starting out baking nearly 20 years ago with my toddler at my feet in my home kitchen I never imagined that Seagull would today provide jobs to 25 people and for there to be such a huge appetite for our artisan sourdough bread and pastries.
Growing the business in my hometown of Tramore is also a real honour. We are really pleased to also be expanding our bakery area in the town with the opening of additional baking premises in the Riverstown Business Park; which will help us to provide all of the delicious pastries and bread to our now three bakery shops. The move is also good news for our loyal customers in Tramore as it allows us to expand the range on offer at Broad Street by freeing up kitchen space, we will now be able to add a new selection of bio-dynamic and organic natural wines, vegan and fermented foods, artisanal cheeses, charcuterie, and more to the shop.” Sarah says.
The new Seagull Bakery shop in Dunmore East opened to customers on July 21st and has been serving up delicious Roasted Brown coffees, its full selection of sourdough bread from white loaves to seaweed sourdough to 3 seed, rye porridge loaves, baguettes, focaccias, and its Irish grain heritage loaf plus the complete selection of Seagull sweet treats and baked goods. These include the famous twice-baked Almond Crossaints and the Seagull Cinnamon Buns; plus Chocolate and Hazelnut Croissants, local and seasonal fruit Danish pastries, Apple oaties, Cruffins, plain Crossaints and the Einkorn ancient grain Lemon and Poppyseed treats, Rye Brownies, Wholemeal Spelt Carmel Squares with Dilisk and Einkorn Carrot Cake.
The delicious Seagull lightly effervescent Lemon Verbena and Rose and Hibiscus flavoured Kombucha plus the popular hand-made fresh pasta created with Irish stoneground heritage grains is also available. A range of complementary artisanal products is stocked too, including a selection of ‘My Goodness’ vegan and fermented foods, a range of hand-made artisan Corleggy Cheeses, a range of charcuterie from the sustainable The Wooded Pig farm, and a selection of antipasti from The Real Olive Company plus Tramore based producers Plante, Tramore’s Holly Dalton’s Conbini Condiments, and Magdas Jams and Marmalades. It is planned that the Seagull range of bio-dynamic and organic natural wines will be added over the coming weeks.
The new Seagull Bakery at the Lower Village (next to the fire station) in Dunmore East will be open from 8 am to 4 pm Wednesday to Saturday and from 9 am to 1 pm on Sundays. For further details see Seagull Bakery on Facebook or Instagram.
