Crough Woods

Autumn is that time of year when nature is ablaze with colours and one great spot to witness the beauty of this time of year is Crough Woods.  Nestled in the foot hills of the Comeragh mountains in County Waterford Crough Woods is quiet easy to reach.  On the road to Mahon Falls, from the Comeragh Drive, there is a small car park to the right of the road which is the start of the walk.  Beautiful doesn’t begin to describe what you will see there.

The River Mahon has carved out a path through the rocks and cliffs with a power that only nature provides.  Making some beautiful and eye catching waterfalls pounding the rocks as the river travels to Bonmahon where it meets the sea.  There are benches along the way where you can sit for a while and listing to the crashing water and take in the beauty of the woods.  If you are lucky you might even see a squirrel or two which the kids always love.
Crough Woods is easily accessible and if you follow this link, there is a tab on GET DIRECTIONS and google maps will get you there from where ever you are.

Don’t forget that you can continue your journey up as far as Mahon Falls and view the majestic Waterford Fall.  The path way at the Falls is very easy to navigate.
Waterford has so much to offer so our advice is to get out there and enjoy it.  There is so much history and heritage to explore and what ever the weather nature can be something special.
