There’s amazing events happening in Waterford City this weekend Friday June 10th – Sunday June 12th thanks to Summer in the City, The Churchyard Sessions, Waterford Council and many more enthusiastic Waterfordians who are all providing fabulous entertainment for everyone who lives in or visits our beautiful City to enjoy. Events for Criunniú na nÓg and the Waterford International Organ Festival are also taking place in the City this weekend too. The City is just oozing with culture, talent, and fantastic musicians, there’ll be dancing in the streets and so many more activities and events for all the family to enjoy! Here’s a list of some of the main events happening this weekend in Waterford City…..

Friday June 10th:

Music Generation Waterford schools event will officially launch Summer in the City 2022.
This is pretty exciting. Up to 300 students will showcase their talents on stage in John Roberts Square from 10am – 2pm.

Fierce Mild from 4pm – 6pm on stage in John Robert’s Square.
The Churchyard Sessions presents Person² as the first Friday Night gig of 2022!
Gig starts at 8pm in Bailey’s New Street.

The 2022 Waterford International Organ Festival will kick of with ‘Fireworks from Aloft’, a concert featuring solo works for organ performed by Laura Schlappa in Christ Church Cathedral at 8pm, presented in partnership with the Symphony Club of Waterford. (The festival is structured around three major evening concerts, with additional opportunities for people of all ages to engage with the ‘king of instruments’ through a children’s workshop, choral workshop, and festival eucharist).

Saturday June 11th:
FESTIVAL FAMILY FUN DAY – This Saturday 11th June from 12 noon and it’s all FREE!
Come along to the Waterford Cultural Quarter from 12pm for a day filled with fun activities for all the family. Expect some great live music from local youth acts this coming Saturday on O’Connell Street. It’s part of a massive live event across the nation as 8 stages around Ireland go live simultaneously and get streamed by Garageland and the RTE social platforms). Supported by Waterford Cultural Quarter as part of Cruinniú na nÓg. 
Events include face painting, balloons, music, dance, teenage music, juggling, arts workshops and more than a few surprises along the way. So dress up in your favourite costume and come along to join the party!
The event is completely free and all are welcome!

More fabulous cultural events include Art in The Apple Market accompanied by Piano from 12 noon.
The amazingly talented legends Thank Funk grace the stage in Waterford Cultural Quarter O’ Connell Street from 8pm.
The Churchyard Sessions present The Strobes from 7pm in Bailey’s New Street in association with The Reg and The Munster Bar.

The second evening of the Waterford International Organ Festival will feature a not-to-be-missed concert of music for orchestra and organ at 8pm in Christ Church Cathedral, presented in partnership with the Symphony Club of Waterford.

Throughout the weekend the main venues to check out for all the events happening are: John Roberts Square, Waterford Cultural Quarter – O’ Connell Street, Jenkins Lane, The Apple Market, The Viking Triangle (Cathedral Square) and Bailey’s New Street. There’s so much on for all the family!
Sunday June  12th:
Cathedral Square: The Viking Triangle Trad Session, Family Activities and Waterford Sketchers
The third evening of the Waterford International Organ Festival features a broad range of music for voice and organ with the Mornington Singers and organist Aleksandr Nisse in Christ Church Cathedral at 8pm, presented in partnership with the Symphony Club of Waterford.
