A “Flying Visit” To the Waterford Greenway!

 
Since the opening or the Waterford Greenway in 2017 tens of thousands of people have visited the 46km cycle and walk way that stretches from Bilberry in Waterford city to Dungarvan in the west of the county.  Each and every individual visitor have their story to tell about their experience and yesterday we heard a great one!
While out at the WIT Arena where Greenway Waterford Bike Hire is based, owner and operator Donal Jacob told us an amazing story that really only amazed us.

“Michael is a pilot for a big international airline. While in Singapore, he heard about the Waterford Greenway so decided that he just had to do it. After flying into Dublin from Hong-Kong, he hired a car, drove down to us at the WIT Sports Arena where he rented a bike, cycled the whole Greenway and then headed back to Dublin where he was then due to fly back to Hong-Kong”, Donal told us.
It’s stories like this that we love to hear and there are many more.  Goes to show that we really have something special in Waterford and it’s a great amenity not just for the people of Waterford but for everyone who want’s to come visit.
As Donal commented, “Our location is ideal for those who want to do a short cycle while taking in one of the most scenic stretches of the Greenway. Running alongside the beautiful River Suir, your cycle will take you past the site where the first Vikings arrived in Waterford, past the beautiful Mount Congreve Gardens and onto the Waterford and Suir Valley Railway Station and for those who wish to cycle the whole way to Dungarvan we have a FREE shuttle bus on weekends from mid-March and every day during July and August. If, on the other hand one is staying overnight in Dungarvan and cycling back the following day, you can rest assured knowing that your car will be safe in the WIT car-park. Finally, our location at the WIT Sports Arena has plenty of space for large groups or school tours to get themselves set up before heading out on their cycle. There is also FREE parking for buses”.
