New attraction at Great Escape in Waterford City
Axe Junkies is Ireland’s very first Urban Axe Throwing facility based in Waterford City. Based at Great Escape on O’Connell Street in the city it’s new and exciting but what is it?
What Is Axe Throwing?
Think of it as darts but with an axe! It’s one of the most exciting and fun activities that you can do. Did we mention how satisfying hitting a bulls eye is!
So how does it work?
You’ll be slinging axes side by side against your friends or colleagues, hitting bullseyes and cheering on your mates. All backed up with great music and atmosphere and a chance to socialise between throws.
Their experienced throwing instructors will get you throwing like a pro in no time. Then once you’ve got the hang of it they’ll take you and your group through a tournament until the king or queen of axes is crowned.
Is it over 18’s?
Yes strictly over 18’s. If they think you look under 25 (you lucky thing) you might be asked for valid ID to prove your age.
Is alcohol allowed?
You’ll be throwing axes so what do you think?
How Long is a Session?
Sessions are 1.5 Hours.
Here’s how it works:
- 12 players per lane
- 1 instructor per lane
During this time you’ll receive,
Give you a safety briefing and if it’s a mixed group they’ll get you out of your shells and into a sociable, urban axe throwing mood. You will learn how to sling an axe like a boss, giving group instruction then brief individual coaching to hone your technique.
Then once you’re happily smashing targets you’ll get you straight into a tournament. And then they’ll crown the tournament winner and celebrate with everyone else.
At the end of the session some awesome photos will be taken for you to remember your amazing time throwing axes.
