This is a very unique 10m road race along the very fast, flat and beautiful Waterford Greenway and participants will also have a unique chance to race against the Waterford & Suir Valley train.
Registration for the 10m run for Beat The Train For DSI 2018 is now closed. The limit of 350 entries has been reached. It was such a huge success last year that the participant limit had to be increased and sold out very fast especially with it’s perfect timing of 3 weeks after the Dublin marathon and 2 weeks before WAC half marathon.
Waterford & Suir Valley Railway are now taking bookings for the train ride where you will be able to cheer on family and friends participating in the 10m charity event from the comfort of the train.
This year the train will be travelling from Kilmeadan Station all the way to Bilberry, a trip not usually available to the public. It will not only pass the runners but also the scenic views of the River Suir and Mount Congreve.
This video captures the event as it happened last year – what an amazing turnout in 2017 and it’s even bigger and better this year……….

If you would like to race against the runners and cheer them on please give Maria and staff at Waterford & Suir Valley Railway a call on 051 384058 or call in to the Kilmeadan Station. Family tickets start at €20 for two adults and one child, €3 per extra child, adults €8.50.
You will be supporting Down Syndrome Ireland Waterford and South Kilkenny Branch and Waterford & Suir Valley Railway.
Tickets are selling fast so get yours ASAP!! Check out this fabulous event and all the up to date news on the Beat the Train for DSI Facebook page HERE. (There’s also the chance to avail of a number transfer for the race so you can participate but check it out on the FB page).
The team at Mount Congreve will be helping out with parking and getting to the start line. Parking at the Kilmeaden train station will be limited and the organisers are asking as many as possible to avail of this great opportunity to travel in style to the start line. The Waterford & Suir Valley Train will collect you at the Mount Congreve platform around 9.15am and drop you off at the Waterford & Suir Valley Railway station ready for the off and will drop you back to Mount Congreve soon after the race.

The Mount Congreve carpark and route to the Waterford Greenway will open at 8.30am, and the gardens will open at 10am –  if families want to visit or pop in to The Dairy Café in Mount Congreve for delicious coffee and cakes while waiting for friends or family members to pass or finish their race.
This will definitely be an exciting and fabulous fun day out for all!!!
