The House of Horrors is mainly volunteer driven. The young members of Childrens Group Link are a key part of the success of this event and they have turned out in their droves to support the event this year.
A commitee member said “We are so grateful for their participation. As important, is that fact that they are surrounded by caring adult mentors, both staff and volunteers, that guide them through every step of the way. Such relationships are critical to a young person’s development”.
There are multiple task to be undertaken such as:
- Set design, construction
- Painting & decorating
- Creating / making props & mechanical devices
- Creating special effects
- Designing & distributing promotional material (10,000 flyers distributed to homes in Waterford City. A group of young people and volunteers travelled to Dungarvan, Kilkenny, New Ross & Wexford Shopping Centres and main thoroughfares to distribute flyers)
