13th Waterford Film Festival

Waterford Film Festival is very excited to be back at Central Arts for this years event. For the past 2 years the festival has received record-breaking entries from over 30 countries worldwide. The festival team received submissions from across Europe, the Middle East, USA, Canada, South America, the Far East, Australia and New Zealand.
For this years festival, there is an exciting lineup of short films with a diverse mix of genres & themes from many different filmmaking backgrounds. We will be screening 55 films over the course of the weekend, 33 films from Ireland and 22 International films.
Out of the 55 film screenings, 23 of the films are either Produced, Directed and/or written by female filmmakers. From their film selections, there is also 16 films from debut/student filmmakers.
International film screenings this weekend will include films from the UK, USA, Canada, Croatia, Vietnam, Italy, United Arab Emirates, Germany, Switzerland, China and New Zealand.
The festival will also be awarding 40 finalists from national and international writers in the Waterford Film Festival screenplay competition. The overall winners of the film & screenplay competition will be announced on Sunday the 24th November in Central Arts.
Other events include: The Dublin Arabic Film Festival on Tour. Filmmaker Zahara Moufid founded the Dublin Arabic Film Festival, along with Oscar-Nominated Director Jim Sheridan in 2014. Zahara will be attending the Waterford Film Festival and will be presenting 2 Arabic films.
There is a genre for everyone over the 3 day festival – drama, comedy, horror, thrillers, animation, fantasy, music and documentaries.
