Power Clan Gathering 2019

In 2019 a Power Clan gathering will take place in Waterford between the 7th and 14th of August.  The name Power is synonymous with the county of Waterford with the family having come to Ireland in the 12th century with the Anglo Norman invasion led by Strongbow and with him was De Poer, de la Poer or De Paor.
Power which may derive from the Old French povre, meaning “poor” but is more likely to have referred to a vow of poverty rather  than  involuntary destitution, or from pohier, meaning a native of the town of Pois in Picardy in France, so called from the Old French pois, meaning “fish”, a name given it because of its rivers.  The Power name in Irish is “de Paor”.
From August 7th to 14th 2019, the Power Clan Gathering committee will facilitate a wonderful coach trip around Southern Ireland, taking in not only sites of interest to Powers, but some of Ireland’s natural beauty spots and ancient history.
Here’s a taste of the last gathering in 2013.

The plan is to visit Dublin, the western capital of Galway, the Cliffs of Moher and the Kingdom of Kerry to name a few. The trip will culminate in 3 days in “the Poarach” … aka Power Country, Co. Waterford. Please fill in this form as an expression of interest in the trip and the itinerary will be e-mailed to you.  You can access the form HERE.
