Viking Heritage Day at Woodstown

Sunday the 26th of August from 10am to 5pm

Before we start we have to point out that Viking Heritage Day at Woodstown is not at Woodstown Strand but at the place (part of the Waterford Greenway) where the Vikings first landed in Waterford!

There will be a Viking Heritage Day at Woodstown on the Waterford Greenway with Vikings from Ireland, the UK and Denmark, medieval archery, battle re-enactments, guided walks on Viking Woodstown and Wildlife.
So what can you expect to see?  Well there is Déise Medieval Battle Re-enactments where you can watch fighters practise Viking warfare including the famous shield wall and ingenious war games along with a Kiddie Vike where Kids take on the Grown up Vikings and are victorious !

There will also be a Guided walk on the Viking History of Woodstown with Archaeologist James Eogan -Find out about this fascinating site where archaeological testing in 2003 uncovered the largest Viking Find in Europe over the last century including coins from Byzantium and Viking weaponry.

How do I get to Woodstown?
The best way to get to Woodstown is by using the nearest access point which is WIT West Campus at Carriganore.  on the Waterford Greenway and head towards up river or towards Mount Congreve (there will be sign posts).
