Top Waterford original music act Chimpanbee are delighted to announce their back in the studio recording another stellar album for 2019.
Following the tragic death of their beloved bandmate Damien O’ Brien in July, the band have bravely returned to the recording studio to pay tribute to Damien’s talent as a musician. The new album will feature 14 new tracks, with the first singe released dedicated to Damien. “Wish You Well” is the last track Damien completed before he passed away and the band are feeling blessed to have the opportunity to finish his record and remind their fans of the late musician’s inimitable talent.
“Vocally it’s Damien’s best performance by a mile” says Chimpanbee front man Ger Reid. “It’s a highlight of his career…not that he needed any improvement on his vocals but for this album I felt he was digging deeper and striving to become more”
The new 14 track album called “Perfectly Out of Balance” is currently being recorded at Wavefield Recording Studios, Clonakilty. The albums theme is about having “good character in a bad place” says Ger. A verse in the opening track reads “Sure I came for the laugh…the extremities of love and the severity of cash, to find joy in the worst because the best doesn’t last”. Ger reflects that the band has learned some hard lessons over the summer, and that this record, and indeed life, is about not taking things for granted.
Chimpanbee will be announcing gigs as soon as their creative juices are all pumped out in the studio! In the meantime you can download the band’s debut album “Can’t Stop or Rewind” for FREE from www.chimpanbee.ie. Stay tuned for more news on Chimpanbee and the best in Waterford Music!
