Beware of Scam Texts

Beware of Scam Texts

HSE/South East Community Healthcare reminder on scam texts and phone calls

An important message from the HSE.

Beware of Scam Texts; Scam texts relating to the health services and COVID-19 are in circulation. The public are much more aware of these texts due to media attention and the HSE’s communications around scam messages and do get in touch if they get a scam message.

The HSE take these scams seriously and monitor the web for instances of scam websites purporting to offer HSE-related services. If the HSE find a scam website or are notified of a scam from the public we take action to get the site taken down.

Unfortunately it is very easy and quick for the criminals to set up a new site.

The HSE would recommend that people stay vigilant and take the following advice if they are concerned about a text message from the HSE:

·         You should never give your bank details or PIN to someone over the phone or online.

·         The HSE does not charge for COVID-19 related services, including testing and contract tracing and texts indicating otherwise should be ignored.

·         We will never ask you for your bank details or to pay for COVID-19 testing. There is no charge for COVID-19 testing or vaccines through the HSE.

·         Ring HSELive on 1800 700 700 if you have any concerns or suspicions. You should also contact your local Gardaí if you suspect fraud. Screenshot the email, text message or other communication for Gardaí.

We would ask that members of the public make contact with any vulnerable friends or family to make them aware of these calls and text messages.
